Wilma’s Documentary Club

NOTE: Sessions for this course are currently cancelled until Depot reopens

On the third Thursday of every month you are invited to be a member of Wilma’s Documentary Club.

Wilma De Jong, Senior lecturer at the University of Sussex and published writer on the subject of documentaries, will lead a monthly discussion. The sessions will run from 13:30 to 16:30 and include an introduction with clips from other films, a feature length documentary and a post film discussion. The next session is on March 19 with the focus film being the compelling and moving Carol Morley film Dreams of a Life.

In this club we will discuss a wide range of documentaries, examine what makes a film a ‘documentary’ and consider how the genre explores the fascinating dimensions of our real lives, our obsessions and our ambitions to create a fairer world.

Please book the ‘docs club’ ticket and arrive at 13:30 to attend the pre-film introduction in the studio and take part in the post-film discussion.
