This short online course offers an insight into the origins of documentary filmmaking and the different ways it represents the social, political and emotional lives of peoples from all over the world. Wilma De Jong will explore with you how these different realities have been filmed and these diverse stories told.
The course will run every Thursday evening at 7pm for four weeks from February 11th. Each session consists of a 40 minute presentation including clips with a film to watch online as 'homework'. These films can be found online, on BFI, Vimeo and YouTube. A handout with the key points of the course will be emailed to all participants.
Wilma De Jong is a Senior Lecturer in Media and Film Studies and the author of numerous well respected books and articles on documentary. The 4 sessions cost £30. Booking closes on February 9th and you will be emailed a link to access the course on the 11th.
