Part of our Explore Film course
Dr Michael Lawrence explores Zeitlin's emotive film in depth in his lecture that accompanies the screening of this powerful, thought provoking film. The film focuses on six-year-old Hushpuppy who must learn the ways of courage and love when faced with both her hot-tempered father's fading health and melting ice-caps that flood her bayou community and unleash ancient aurochs,
The focus of the lecture will be on Spectatorship and Marxist interpretations of the film. The day runs from 10:30 to 15:30, and although the content is tailored to meet the requirements of the A-Level Film Studies Course, the material will be accessible and engaging for all.
