51mins   2022   UK   PG   English

Post-screening Q&A with filmmakers Jack Tompkins & Ben Marlow ; Sporting Directo of  Lewes FC Kelly Lindsey; and Captain, Lewes FC Women, Rhian Cleverly

Meet Lewes FC, the first football club to equally pay men and women. Rebellion has been baked into the culture of this Sussex town for centuries and today their independent football club is changing sport and society, not only through their fight for gender equality but by using football as a vehicle for social good.

Whether it be resourcing their men's and women's teams equally, declining lucrative sponsorship offers from gambling companies or prioritising people over performance, Lewes are prepared to do whatever it takes to achieve their goal of a more ethical version of football.

We follow Lewes FC players and staff throughout the 2021-2022 season as they fight for success both on and off the pitch, aiming to amplify their 'Equality FC' message as loud as possible and overcome the challenges of doing football differently. Change in football is coming and Lewes are the pioneers.
