A downtrodden family, the Kims eke out a hand-to-mouth existence in a basement apartment. Struggling to earn enough for basic survival, their luck changes when the son, Ki-woo is employed to teach English to the daughter of the wealthy Park family in their suburban home. Slowly, the Kims cunningly infiltrate every aspect of the Parks' daily life. But when an interloper threatens their newfound comfort, a battle of class warfare breaks out, with things going first comically, then horribly, wrong.

Winner of the Palme d’Or and Golden Globe for 'Best Motion Picture - Foreign Language', as well as top Golden Globe nominations for best director and screenplay.

'It tells a story you could probably follow without subtitles, or any dialogue at all: the faces of these actors show with piercing clarity how it feels to be outsiders in a world of wealth and privilege' - Stephanie Zacharek, TIME
