Rocks has big dreams for the future, loyal friends and an adoring younger brother, Emmanuel. But when her unstable mother leaves home, her world turns upside down with fear that she and her little brother will be forced apart if anyone finds out they are living alone.
The film’s story was authored by Theresa Ikoko, a young British Nigerian woman who co-wrote the script with Claire Wilson. In a process that isn’t typical, the two writers, the young cast and many of the creative team collaborated on the making of the film right from the outset and through to its completion.
Uniquely crafted by a majority all-female creative team in collaboration with mostly first-time actors, Rocks is a film about the joy, resilience and spirit of girlhood.
'This film is such a rush of vitality' - Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
