In 1431, after leading numerous military battles and skirmishes against the English during the Hundred Years War, Jeanne d'Arc is captured and placed on trial on charges of heresy by French clergymen who have sworn allegiance to the English.

Based on actual historical records of the trail of Joan of Arc, this cinematic landmark is most renowned for its production (such as the huge concrete set based on medieval architecture) and for lead actor Renée Jeanne Falconetti's performance.

Screened as part of the Words Without Sound silent film festival, followed on Monday by Sunrise.
