Wine Tasting Sessions in Robert's Bar
The Rhône valley lies between Lyon and Marseille, where vines have been cultivated for at least 2000 years. The Northern Rhône is famous for its exquisite expression of the Syrah grape for reds, and Viognier for whites; the South is larger and with a more Mediterranean climate, and its wines are often blends – most commonly of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre.
In this tasting we will explore wines from the Southern Rhône, known for their generosity, opulence and drinkability, but also for their good value. The most famous appellation here is Châteauneuf-du-Pape, but there are other wonderful wines to discover - from the more general appellation of Côtes du Rhône (both red and white), via Cru appellations such as Gigondas, Lirac and Rasteau, to the exclusively rosé appellation of Tavel.
Come and discover joyous wines of vibrant fruit and spice, evoking the warmth and joie de vivre of the South of France.
This evening will be hosted by Inbar Galinsky-Johnson, a wine enthusiast for many years, and has attained several wine qualifications, from both the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) and the Wine Scholar Guild. She loves nothing more than sharing her passion for wine and demystifying what can sometimes feel like an elitist subject. She has been co-running a wine tasting group in Hove since 2019, and contributes regularly to The Wine Society members’ Forum.
