Autumn Light: Creative Photography

November brings a completely different kind of light to photograph. Shorter days, low sun, changing weather and early evenings create opportunities to experiment with atmosphere, movement, shadow and artificial light.

Led by local photographer and teacher Kate Swanson, this practical course will help you understand your camera and become more confident and creative with your photography. Through a mixture of practical exercises, discussion and photography, we’ll explore aperture, shutter speed and ISO, alongside light, composition, colour and visual storytelling. As the evenings draw in, we’ll also experiment with photographing in lower light and making the most of the conditions rather than waiting for the ‘perfect’ light.

The course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who know some of the basics but want to become more confident using their camera creatively.

You’ll need a digital camera that allows you to control aperture, shutter speed and ISO separately. A DSLR or mirrorless camera is ideal. If you’re unsure whether your camera is suitable, please get in touch before booking.
