Monthly Film Club
Depot’s Book to Film Club is a relaxed and open space to talk about books and movies. With classics, horror, and sci-fi on the shelf, there’s something for everyone to get their reading glasses on for.
Each month there will be a screening of a different film based on a book followed by a guided, friendly and informal discussion led by bibliophile and cinephile, Rory. You don’t need to be a professor in literature or Mark Kermode, you just need a free morning once a month to have an easy going chat about books and films over a nice cup of tea! All are welcome.
Films in this season
Celebrating Steinbeck
John Steinbeck is one of America’s most celebrated authors and his work has been adapted into films directed by some of Hollywood’s most celebrated directors and starring some of Hollywood’s most iconic performers. For the next season of the Book to Film Club, we’ll be showing Of Mice and Men, The Red Pony, The Grapes of Wrath, and East of Eden, all shown in the order Steinbeck wrote them.
While The Book to Film Club normally shows each film as a standalone, for this season we’re trying something a little different by trying to wind a single common thread through the season. To spare you all any Steinbeck related fatigue, we’ve spaced them out over the year so each read and watch in between can be enjoyed on their own merit too. As always, we can’t wait to see you in the cinema and we’re excited to see what you all have to say in the discussion.
