The Firework Code
Lewes Bonfire is arguably the world's biggest, most anarchic Bonfire night celebration. But what drives it? Tradition, religion, rebellion, or something else entirely? The Firework code explores the true meaning of Lewes Bonfire through the voices of those who bring it to life — the Bonfire boys and girls. Inviting audiences to look beyond first impressions, the film challenges us to question our instinct to judge what we don't yet understand. As the story unfolds, it reveals that behind the apparent mayhem and madness lies something deeply human — a shared need for connection and belonging that draws people together in this extraordinary tradition.

Bonfire Boyes
A vivid new documentary which reveals the inner workings of The Sussex Bonfire Societies. The film delves behind the scenes of the Hastings Borough Bonfire Society to unravel a folk culture shrouded in secrecy and controversy. From the symbolic burning of effigies to the chaotic torchlit processions, Bonfire Boyes uncovers how this community struggle to preserve ancient customs and the values embedded within them. The film captures the spirit and camaraderie that defines these momentous public events, both bureaucratic and anarchic, radical and highly controlled. The Boyes are willing to go to extreme lengths to keep their tradition alive, ‘to take to the streets with fire', is their expression of freedom and right to protest. But they must learn to compromise in a changing world. And some are more willing than others.
