Get into the spirit of Ukrainian culture and traditions with music, art, food and craft.
We will have performances from local Ukrainian choirs. Volya Voices from Bexhill and Nebo i Zemlia from Lewes. As well as a unique Ukrainian jazz programme by Ludmila Kulakova. These groups were formed in the local areas by Ukrainian people who had fled from the war. Their music helps them stay strong and raise awareness and funds to send first aid to those fighting on the front line.
Ukrainian hearts, Lewes will be selling authentic Ukrainian food. You can expect handmade dumplings, stuffed cabbage, fresh salads, honey cake and much more. All proceeds will go towards purchasing first aid equipment for the front lines in Ukraine and supporting the Lviv Children’s Cancer Hospital.
There will be a beautiful selection of handmade craft items on sale as well as a charity raffle.
The exhibition, Interweaving: Distances That Unite will be open with the artist Lana Mel present.
Throughout the afternoon we will be celebrating Ukrainian culture to keep the plight of Ukraine in people’s hearts.

We can’t wait to see you there!

The exhibition “Interweaving: Distances That Unite” by Lana Mel, explores the experience of Ukrainian displacement through personal stories, photographs, collages, and textile installations. It offers an opportunity to see not only the loss of home, but also the diversity of Ukrainian culture, the support within the community, and the talents that Ukrainians have brought to the UK.
Displacement is not only about loss, but also about creating something new. Ukrainians who have moved have brought with them their traditions, memories, and art. The exhibition shows how these personal stories become interwoven in a new environment and become part of contemporary multicultural Britain.
The Motif of Weaving is the main metaphor of the project. Here, weaving is both a real action and a symbol of support and interaction. The textile installations and photographs on display, together form a visual tapestry where each story is a separate thread in a larger narrative about identity, adaptation, and hope.
