Part of CINECITY 2025 - following the screening, Director Andrew Kötting will host a Q&A with two of the film’s participants, Claire and Bob Humm.
The latest work by artist and filmmaker Andrew Kötting (Lek and the Dogs, This Filthy Earth, Gallivant) is a distinctive exploration of memory as perceived through the gaze of neuro diversity.
The central figure in the film is Kötting's adult daughter, Eden, who has Joubert syndrome. Dressed like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, she journeys through the countryside and visits a factory where past memories are reconstructed. Eden's companions are Charlie, Neville and Michelle (members of the Project Art Works collective in Hastings), whose gently humorous interplay is a delight.
There are also appearances by colourful folkloricists and a Makaton sign language teacher. Super 8 footage, voiceover, song fragments, clanging machinery and electronica are interwoven to create a hypnotic world.
‘Andrew Kötting returns to the themes of consciousness and memory (both individual and collective) in this playful and ruminative docu-essay….' - Peter Bradshaw, Guardian
