NOTE: Sessions for this course are currently cancelled until Depot reopens
In this one day course we will explore the process of adapting a short story or novel for screen. The day will include lots of exercises and you will discover techniques for developing your own adaptation.
We will explore three possible approaches to adaptation and experiment with structure – what to lose and what to develop in adapting one medium to another. We will explore the four tools of visual storytelling and learn how to write compelling opening scenes.
The course uses clips, handouts, discussion and fun writing exercises. Participants should bring a story, a novel or other source material with them that they would like to adapt. The course is run by Julie Everton, lecturer at Brighton University.
The course is on April 4 from 12:00 – 17:00 and costs £40.
