Art master Class by Lana Mel

120mins   Certificate: 18

Part of Refugee Week at Depot

As part of our refugee week programme, Lana Mel invites participants to a collage workshop. The workshop will begin with a short 10-minute presentation about the history and development of collage, highlighting notable artists such as Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Henri Matisse, Hannah Höch, Serhiy Parajanov, Sergei Sviatchenko, and others. She will also show examples of her own work to inspire the group.

Following the presentation, participants will create their own collages using a variety of materials (magazines, coloured paper, fabric, and decorative elements). No previous experience is required — the session is open to all, regardless of age or skill level. All materials will be provided.

Lana Mel is an artist from Kyiv who has been working with collage for over 10 years. Her work spans paper, mixed media, and digital collage, and she has exhibited both in Ukraine and internationally. She has also facilitated workshops for diverse audiences. Her practice blends classical and contemporary collage techniques, and she is passionate about experimenting with form and material. Her art works are on display in the Studio as part of the refugee week program at Depot.
