Opera lovers will be able to enjoy the full Glyndebourne experience when Hamlet in operatic form is screened at Depot cinema, Lewes; live from the iconic opera house.

While Glyndebourne goers are enjoying their picnic, Depot visitors will be able to do the same thanks to the three-screen cinema’s special ‘half-time’ Opera Box: Sourdough, hummus, mixed olive, spiced nuts, brownie (£5) – plus a choice of assorted drinksSussex Sparkling – White Wine -Rose’ Wine – Red Wine – Beers/Ciders – Vodka – Gin – Juices – Coke/Diet Coke – Mixers

Depot wants to encourage people on arrival to pre-book their drinks and snack, which will then be waiting for them in the Gallery when the interval starts. An experience akin to when you go to the opera.

To set the scene all on duty cinema staff will be in evening dress.

Carmen Slijpen, Creative Director of Depot, says: “We are very proud to welcome Hamlet to the Depot. Glyndebourne belongs in Lewes as many of its young adults, friends and professionals from the industry work there. Many Lewesians host the cast from the various productions.

“As a town we have a very close relationship with the opera house, as a venue we are looking to carry on its reputable experience so staff will dress in evening gown, and we offer pre-bookable drinks and a £5 opera (snack) box for the interval. Please arrive on time to arrange your interval orders.”
