Part of CINECITY 2025
The fourth feature from Hlynur Pálmason, director of Godland (CINECITY 2022), is a witty but tender portrait of a year in the life of a family whose parents, Magnús and Anna, are navigating their separation. Playful, heartfelt and surprising, The Love That Remains captures the bittersweet essence of faded love and shared memories amidst the changing seasons and the sweeping Icelandic landscape.
The Love That Remains is shot through with moments of wry humour and surreal fantasy, and features the director’s own children — and his scene-stealing Icelandic sheepdog, Panda, winner of the Palm Dog at this year’s Cannes — all of which contribute to the film’s relaxed and spontaneous feel.
