It's 1937 in the Soviet Union. Alexander Kornyev, a newly appointed prosecutor, receives a letter written in blood by a prisoner trying to expose state corruption. Kornyev takes up the case but soon finds himself embroiled in a twisting web of deception and evasion as he attempts to uncover the truth.
This sinister depiction of dictatorship won the François Chalais prize at Cannes this year. Two Prosecutors was adapted from Gulag survivor Georgy Demidov's novella by Ukrainian director Sergei Loznitsa, whose work includes the award-winning Donbass.
