Depot’s weekly live music & street food extravaganza, which has been bringing those summer festival vibes to Lewes since 2021!

Each Saturday from May to September, we host live music and delicious street food vendors on our beautiful open terrace, guaranteed to give you that great festival experience. Mix that with a great selection of local beers and ciders, and you’ve got an unforgettable night out planned.

Board Game Night

26 June & 31 July

These monthly meet-ups in the Depot Studio will provide a welcoming space for adults of all experience levels to connect, compete, and unwind over some great games.

Virginia Woolf at the Cinema

8 – 17 June

Marking the centenary of the publication of Virginia Woolf’s literary masterpiece Mrs Dalloway, Depot presents a series of screenings and talks exploring the celebrated modernist author and her relationship with film.

Two Films by Marleen Gorris

12 & 16 June 2025

Experience two rarely screened films showcasing the work of acclaimed Dutch feminist filmmaker Marleen Gorris: A Question of Silence (1983) and Broken Mirrors (1984).

 

Motherload

Friday 13 June

Post-film Q&A session led by Lewes’ own champion of electric cargo bikes, Matthew Bird (Get Bikery) along members of Cycle Lewes, Lewes Climate Hub and other users of these fun and super-capable two-wheeled machines

Award-winning documentary that uses the cargo bike as the vehicle for exploring parenthood in this digital age of climate change. The film captures a new mother’s quest to understand the increasing isolation and disconnection of modern life, its planetary impact, and how cargo bikes could be an antidote.

Refugee Week

16 – 22 June 2025

As part of this year’s theme for Refugee Week, ‘Community as Superpower’, we are collaborating with several Ukrainian refugee groups and individuals from our local area. We will be celebrating Ukrainian culture, talent and the diverse experiences through a vibrant schedule of events.

Cinelogue presents: News from Home

Thursday 19 June

This beautifully captured time capsule of 1970s New York City is Akerman’s most elegantly minimalist and profoundly affecting meditation on dislocation and estrangement.

Over a series of exactingly composed shots of Manhattan, the filmmaker reads letters sent by her mother years earlier. A tender meditation on urban alienation and personal disconnection.

Everybody Friendly Screening: Wicked

Elphaba, an ostracized but defiant girl born with green skin, and Glinda, a privileged aristocrat born popular, become extremely unlikely friends in the magical Land of Oz. Everybody-Friendly Screenings are less intense than everyday screenings with the auditorium lights at half-setting and the sound slightly lower. All films are subtitled.

Homegrown

Join us at Depot once a month for the latest in British Independent Cinema. We will be handpicking films that show the diversity and skill present across the industry – and inviting the filmmakers and actors themselves to join us and provide first hand personal insight into the process of making a film.

Cinelogue

Depot’s strand dedicated to screening arthouse, independent and cult films while engaging in discussion on issues surrounding film and cinema culture.

Cinemas of the Mind

A screening with post-film discussion facilitated by Dr Jake Harvey, a forensic psychiatrist, and Jenny Leeburn, a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, focusing on the psychological aspects of the film, and the emotional impact on the viewer.

Kino Collective

A group of young people dedicated to sharing an enthusiasm and knowledge of cinema through the hosting of specially selected screenings and events for young adults.

Book to Film Club

Depot’s Book to Film Club is a relaxed and open space to talk about books and movies. With classics, horror, and sci-fi on the shelf, there’s something for everyone to get their reading glasses on for.

Everybody-Friendly Screenings

Come and enjoy a relaxed, subtitled movie experience in our spacious and accessible cinema.  Especially suitable for those with additional needs, including people living with autism, dementia, the hard of hearing and older audiences.  Carers, families and supporters are welcome too, and refreshments are provided
