Depot is delighted to announce that it has achieved four out of five stars in it’s first environmental auditing by Julie’s Bicycle, a leading organisation that supports the creative community & cultural industry to act on climate change and environmental sustainability. Their Creative Green Certification recognises and celebrates best practices and is the only environmental certification scheme designed specifically for this sector.
Organisations are awarded between one and five stars based on points for commitment, understanding and improvement. Depot scored a total of 67 out of 100 points, with its highest score going to commitment at 38 points out of 40.
Depot demonstrated it has a robust sustainability strategy that is integrated across the organisation including: staff roles and responsibilities; procurement; creative programming and engagement.
Natasha Padbury, Depot’s Green Ambassador, was overjoyed with the result. “Sustainability really is at the core of what we do so I’m thrilled that our year round, whole team effort is reflected in our report. It was a huge amount of work but the process has really helped refine our methodology and increase our ambition. Thank you to all our customers, partners, stakeholders and suppliers who are an integral part of this journey. We extend this gratitude to Julie’s Bicycle – we are extremely proud to be part of this pioneering, creative community!”
Depot will continue to use the Creative Green framework to make sustained carbon emission reductions as well as environmental improvements. Director & programmer Carmen Slijpen says ‘Despite of and in response to the challenging times we have found ourselves in this year, we are more committed than ever to be part of a fairer, self sustaining future. Let’s use this pivotal time to really address our climate and biodiversity crises. There has never been a better time for a globalised green revolution. Join us!”
In celebration, Depot’s next At Home programme will be dedicated to a lovingly curated selection of the best Nature themed films that are available On Demand – available from Thursday 16th July.
