Depot has teamed up with Sussex Safer Roads Partnership to support its campaign to raise awareness of the importance of wearing a seatbelt.
The multi-award winning public information film, Embrace Life, will be screened before all films shown at Depot throughout December. The campaign will also be supported with leaflets in the Depot lounge.
Written and directed by local filmmaker Daniel Cox, Embrace Life was deliberately developed to provide a counter-point to the hard-hitting ‘shock and awe’ advertising used in road safety. The film has garnered a string of international awards, including a Prince Michael International Road Safety Award, Gold World Medal, New York International Advertising Awards and a Bronze Lion at the Cannes International Advertising Awards.
Embrace Life has also become a worldwide viral sensation, having received over 19 million views on YouTube, where it was awarded Ad of the Year.
Independent filmmaker Daniel Cox will reveal the story behind the making of the film in a special question and answer event on Saturday 9 December. In a talk entitled ‘Embrace Life – from concept to Cannes’, Daniel discusses the surprising and entertaining journey of the positive road safety advert that went viral, saved lives, and circumnavigated the globe. The event takes place in Depot’s studio at 16:00 and is free, on a first come, first served basis.
