Depot is marking Fairtrade Fortnight (24 February – 8 March) with a competition to win an ethical tea selection hamper.

The benefits of Fairtrade to the workers at the Makaibari estate, in Kerseong near Darjeeling, are also being highlighted with a factsheet accompanying  Depot’s drinks menu during the period of the campaign.

Hampstead Tea was rated as the joint number one ethical tea brand in the UK by Ethical Consumer for a second year running. The teas are produced using organic and biodynamic farming methods.

In keeping with Depot’s own stance on sustainability, Hampstead Tea was the first tea company in the UK to eliminate plastic based glues from its tea bags, which are home compostable.

The range served at Depot includes English Breakfast and Earl Grey, as well as naturally caffeine-free teas including Chamomile, Peppermint and Lemon & Ginger.

To enter the competition, customers are invited to guess how many Hampstead Tea bags Depot brewed in 2019. Answers can be posted in the ‘teapot’ collection box on the bar. The closest answer drawn on 8 March 2020 will win the Hampstead Tea hamper.
