Wednesday 4 July

Depot’s youth group are taking over the cinema – at least for a day. On 4 July, the Depot Young Programmers will present their choice of films, as well as staging a live music gig and a film quiz.

The theme of the first DYP Takeover Day is The Female Gaze and is a celebration of women in film. The three feature length films chosen by the group are all directed by women. We meet an outspoken young Iranian girl in Persepolis; there’s the vampire movie A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night; and we are haunted by Sofia Coppola’s directorial debut, The Virgin Suicides. Outside on the terrace, at 15:00, live music comes courtesy of All of This and, from 16:00, we screen a free selection of short films by local students. From 19:30, the Young Programmers host their ever popular film quiz.

Depot Young Programmers are a group dedicated to sharing an enthusiasm and knowledge of cinema through the hosting of specially selected screenings and events for young people.
