Depot’s young programmers the Kino Club are to mark Climate Action Day on Saturday 30 November with a screening of Britain on Film: Protest!
The BFI film is a collection of shorts exploring the varied and fascinating history of public protest in the UK. From a 1910 suffragette demonstration to CND protesters, this fascinating and diverse collection is sourced from the national and regional archives.
The screening is an opportunity to celebrate – and learn from – the history of dissent, at a time when young people in particular are standing up for their rights and beliefs. Followed by a Q&A hosted by Kino Club’s Lola Arrling and featuring: Lewes Town Councillor (and former Greenham Common protestor) Imogen Makepeace; Natalia Whiteside from Extinction Rebellion Lewes; and Depot green ambassador Natasha Padbury.
